What this is, and what it cannot do
Written for the parent reading it at arm's length, deciding whether this is another thing to worry about.
Nobody can reach your child
There is no chat, no comments, no profiles, no messaging and no way for one account to see another. There is no character to have a conversation with: Taleium writes a chapter when it is asked for one and does nothing in between. A child cannot be contacted through this site because there is nothing here to contact them with.
There are no child accounts either, and there is no way to make one. It is built for a parent and a child at the same screen, on the parent's account.
What gets written
Every chapter is written to the age band of the story. For ages 3-5 that means nothing frightening is left unresolved by the end of a chapter. The gently spooky genre is called gently spooky because it is written to have an explanation and to end with everybody safe.
Taleium writes what your family asks for. If a child asks for something a children's story should not contain, it will not produce it, and nothing has been written into your book in the meantime. You are also reading every chapter as it arrives, which is the real safeguard and the reason this is built for two people at one screen.
Your stories are private
Private is the default. A story stays that way until you change it, and there are only two other settings: a link that works without an account, and publishing to Browse. Both are one choice on the story and both are reversible. A shared link stops working the moment you make a story private again.
Search engines are told not to index shared links, and the whole prefix those links live under is refused in robots.txt. Only stories a family deliberately published are indexable.
Three things we do not do
- Your stories are not used to train anything. Not our models, not anybody else's.
- Nothing about your family is sold, shared or passed to an advertiser. There is no advertising on this site and no tracking for it.
- Card details never touch this site. Payment happens on Stripe's own pages, so there is nothing here to leak.
What is actually stored
An email address, a name to say hello with, a hashed password, and the stories you write. That is the lot. There is no analytics on this site, no advertising pixels and no third party scripts of any kind.

Questions
- Is it safe for children?
- Every chapter is written to the age range of the story, there is nothing on the site written by strangers, and there is no way for anybody to contact your family through it. The stories other families publish are the only thing on the site Taleium did not write, and those are stories rather than comments.
- Is our story private?
- Private is the default and nothing leaves it unless you change that. You can hand out a link that works without an account, which is what most families do for grandparents, or publish a story to Browse where anybody can read it. Both are one setting on the story and both can be undone.
- Do you use our stories to train anything?
- No. Your stories are yours. They are not used to train a model, they are not sold, and nobody reads them unless you publish them.
